Sashimi is the non-rice form of sushi. In a basic sense, sashimi is a raw piece of fish served by itself and is usually eaten by dipping it in a mixture of soy sauce and wasabi.
Sashimi is a very popular form of home cooking in Japan and it is sure to make an appearance at most parties. Outside of homes Sashimi can be found at Sushi restaurants or Sushi-ya in Japanese.
Some other things to expect while eating Sashimi
Hojiso: A scraped off stem that is used as a garnish with sashimi.
Daikon: Shredded Daikon (Japanese raddish) is always used as a garnish with sashimi.
