How to get a telephone line installed

In Japan all telephone lines run through NTT. To get a telephone line installed in your home then you will need to contact NTT about this.

Buying a telephone line

You can get in touch with NTT by either dialing 118 or by contacting NTT information at 3277-1010 to find the nearest NTT office near you.
To apply for an NTT land line you will need some form of identification i.e. alien registration, drivers license and possibly a bill with your name and address printed on it.

The costs of buying a phone line can be quite expensive. The initial cost can range from 40,000 yen upwards. However, depending on the plan you choose it might cost much less. For more info on rates then refer to NTT West
